ree

Peter Buzolich was born in Milna, Austria on December 24, 1886. He arrived at the Port of New York on the "Pennsylvania" on October 24, 1904. After arriving in Biloxi, he found work in the flourishing seafood industry and married Margarite Trebotich Busolich in 1908. The couple settled on Howard Avenue and had two children, Steve and Lucretia.

Mr. Buzolich became known as "Captain Pete" to his friends and neighbors as he worked the Gulf Waters at the helm of his 50-foot Biloxi lugger SCOONER. Peter declared his intention to become a US citizen in 1914. Having been a resident of Biloxi for 16 years, Captain Pete passed away on March 17, 1920, at the age of 33 years. His son, Steve, carried on his legacy as a fisherman and the Howard Avenue property remained the family home into the 21st Century.
