Biloxi native, Paul Bodin, was born and raised on Point Cadet. His career in the maritime and seafood industry began at the young age of ten years, when he served as a deck hand aboard the BOUNTY with Captain Andy Burns.

As Paul continued working on the waters, he became the youngest person to earn a captain’s license for 100-ton vessels with the Coast Guard in New Orleans, Louisiana. Later, Capt.

Paul achieved Master Captain status for 500-ton vessels commanding supply vessels.

In 1981, Paul partnered with this stepfather, Neilous “N.C.” Covacevich opening Bay Marine Boat Works on Biloxi’s Back Bay. The operation was later moved to 5th Street in Biloxi. It was here that Paul assisted N.C. in designing and building the Biloxi schooner, MIKE SEKUL, which is owned by the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum.

Over the past 43 years, Bay Marine has repaired many recreational and commercial vessels including the annual maintenance of both Biloxi schooners owned by the museum.

For the decades Paul Bodin has dedicated to the maritime and seafood industry and his efforts to hand down the traditions to future generations, he is recognized in the Heritage Hall of Fame.
