George Anglado, Jr. was born on August 5, 1942, in Biloxi to George and Evelyn Anglado. He worked his whole life in the seafood industry, working for Suarez Seafood, West Seafood and J & W Seafood.
For decades, George exemplified the very best of the seafood industry through both skill and character. Operating the Laitram automatic shrimp peeling machine requires mechanical knowledge, dexterity, and an unwavering attention to detail. Yet beyond the technical demands, it calls for endurance, patience, and a commitment to food safety and product quality. George not only mastered these skills, but elevated them to an art, ensuring that every shrimp processed reflected the high standards of our Gulf Coast tradition.
Mr. Anglado mentored others in the operation of the shrimp peeling machine that revolutionized the shrimp processing industry in the 1940s. Working more than 100 hours per week at times, he ensured that all were skilled in the safe operation of these machines, but more than that, the legacy of the seafood business would live on. The factory was truly his life, and, even after his retirement, George could be found in the factories visiting.
George Anglado, Jr. passed away in 2012, but his contributions to the seafood industry will forever be remembered.
