MAGG DOFF

In 1942, Adolph “Doffie” Ross built the MAGG DOFF, a Biloxi lugger, in his front yard. The measurements of the vessel were: length 40.3 feet, breadth 14.1 feet, depth 3.6 feet. It weighed 15 gross tons and was powered by an 83-horsepower engine. The MAGG DOFF was named for Doffie’s wife, Maggie Allen Ross and for himself. After Adolph’s death in 1955, the boat was owned by Maggie Allen Ross and captained by her son, Clyde Ross. Clyde would captain the boat well into the 1990s.
