EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – Job Description

Summary: Responsible for the overall leadership and daily hands-on management of the organization including but not limited to community relations, fundraising, program development, financial management, resource development, human resources, and facilities management of Museum and Biloxi Schooner Pier Complex and two (2) historically accurate Biloxi Schooners. This is an on-site, full-time position not eligible for remote work on a regular or ongoing basis. Hours 8a-5p Monday-Friday, plus nights, weekends, holidays as needed. Executive Director is hired by and serves at the behest of the Board of Directors with dotted line responsibility to the City of Biloxi Administration.
Qualifications:
• Seasoned individual with Bachelor's Degree and/or minimum contiguous 4 years relevant museum or comparable non-profit organization.
• Prior Leadership in a supervisory capacity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Century 21 or comparable accounting program, Outlook.
• Experience in database entry, analysis, reporting and project management accounting and taxes.
• Proven track record/demonstrated experience managing annual fundraising campaigns and/or membership drives.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and tasks for the museum's good.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both oral and written.
• Maritime and seafood industry knowledge and norms a major plus but not a prerequisite.

Duties:
• Lead and manage full-time staff, part-time staff, volunteers both within the Museum and all aspects of Biloxi Schooners and Schooner Pier Complex.
• Fostering local community relations and partnerships within local, county, state, federal and national government entities as needed.
• Protects the organizations assets.
• Oversee major functions of community engagements, educational programs, exhibits and special exhibitions, visitor experiences on land and on the water.
• Responsible for ensuring MSIM meets its financial and program goals.
• Must be physically able to help in the preparation and implementation of emergency procedures in the event of a hurricane evacuation- inside, outside, donated vessels, schooner pier complex and 2 schooners.
• Instill and adhere to MSIM's Mission Statement and vision.
• Additional duties as needed to ensure that MSIM as a whole is and remains steadfast in protecting the history and heritage of the industry that built the Mississippi Gulf Coast into what it is today.

• Personal vehicle.
• Proof of USA Citizenship.
• Minimal out-of-town travel as necessary.
